SOLS

The Society for Latina/o Scholarship [SOLS] of Michigan State University, in its third year, is a graduate student-led initiative whose mission is to foster academic amistad and collaboration between Latina/o graduate students and scholars, community members, and all others whose academic foci are related to issues concerning Latinas/os.  SOLS’s primary goal is to encourage and promote the production of Latina/o research by graduate students, thus, establishing and fostering a community.  Due to the often isolating and intimidating experience of graduate school it is critical for graduate students to have a space where their research is supported.  Furthermore, the very nature of being surrounded by fellow colleagues, who share an interest in your work, validates one’s research.
